Hello guys, first of all a very happy new year to all my fellow Peaky Blinder lovers, this show has taken me by storm and has delivered beyond my greatest expectations, the perfect crime thriller that I ever could have hoped for and watching Cillian Murphy in a role so appropriate, has delivered beyond my wildest dreams, I have always envisioned him in a role like this ever since Batman Begins, no other role could have justified his acting talents to the world, to the same degree that this amazing series did....
I have never been so unbelievably excited for any other series in my whole life.
Tommy, the man, the myth, the legend, the ultimate mastermind who wins all his impossible battles through his unmatched intellect, was outsmarted in Season 5, someone betrayed him, and it is absolutely unbelievable to both Tommy and us viewers alike, that his master plan failed so miserably....
So while Tommy points a gun to his head, and tries to solve the impossible puzzle, tries to beat the man he cannot defeat, let us see if we can beat him to it....
The Peaky Blinders Season 6 trailer is already out and the release date is supposed to be in late February this year. So I thought this should be the perfect time to open up a discussion on this highly awaited topic.
Enough tittle tattle from my end, which I obviously couldn't skip past, given my sheer love for the series, now let's get to the point.
Before I do there is one thing though, that we do need to discuss, THERE WILL BE A LOT OF SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO NEVER WATCHED THIS SHOW BEFORE, SO PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.
Now, let us begin.....
Director Anthony Byrne spoke to Digital Spy about the sabotage as well — and he said those who paid “close attention” should be able to see who backstabbed Tommy. “I think so, if you’ve paid close attention, yeah, I think so,” Byrne said of recognizing the betrayer. “You certainly find out. But yeah, we actually cut stuff around that end section to make it more oblique.”
So since, the betrayal comes from a person who was already hinted at, in a way so subtle most of us overlooked, I will highlight some key moments in Season 5, that I bet you all missed.
First suspect: Billy Grade
Billy joins the Birmingham Garisson pub, as a singer, who also happened to be a great soccer player. Yeah I know, it's pretty weird. Considering the money in soccer at that time in England, as well as the fame, wasn't that bad at all.... Even Arthur was surprised.
Also, you would be right if it rings a bell in your head, because yes, Grace Burgess, Tommy's Grace yeah, she was also employed as a spy, in the same pub of the Shelby's, who also gained her popularity, for being a great singer.....
You see where I am getting at?
The ulster volunteer force, same people who blew up the car of Ben Younger, whom Tom sent to report to the military officials, to show them the evidence that Oslwald Mosley is intimately connected to Jimmy Mccavern, a known war criminal.....
Its very possible that the Ulster Force recruited Billy as a spy in the pub, to get inside information of their operations, Chester Campbell was also an Ulsterman, as confirmed in season 2 episode 6 and season 5 episode 6.
So it is possible that the Ulster Force employs the same method twice.
And when Billy was told by Finn on the night of Mosley assasination attempt, "they are shooting a fascist tonight, I have to go...", Billy's response was "Really? Mosley is in town."
Here is the link to that clip
https://youtu.be/XeVgdQpFyJk
And immediately after Finn leaves, instead of going for the Whiskey glass, Billy goes for the Telephone.
Obviously to inform someone. Most likely the Ulstermen officials.
And thus the assasins that killed Barney Thomason and Aberama Gold, are most likely, THE RED RIGHT HANDS OF THE Ulster Volunteer Force.
This in my opinion, is the most probable scenario. All the things add up properly with this theory. However, there are other possibilities, which we will now discuss.
2. Johnny Doggs
Apart from that very interesting bit about Aberama Gold breaking Johnny's ribs and calling him the traitor, because only Johnny knew where Aberama and his son Bonnie were camped, where the Billy boys very conveniently ambushed them and killed Bonnie.....
There is one other very compelling scene, in the Peaky Blinders season 5 episode 6, that we all ignored, and here is where we will analyse it....
In s5e6 Tommy goes to Margate to visit Alfie Solomons, who almost died by getting shot in the face in season 4. He goes there to rent a Jewish crowd to organize a riot on the day of Mosley's speech.
In there Alfie tells him about his recurring dream of watching Tommy standing alone with a big black horse in a forest, then Tommy saying goodbye right before shooting the guy. He said this to make Tommy Marvel at his newfound spiritual power after ressurection.
Here is the clip for more clarity https://youtu.be/
Now this actually happened, in season 5 episode 1, where Tommy shoots a horse sick with some incurable disease, to relieve it of it's pain (due to his unmatched love for horses) and he does it in a remote location, where his family was camped, his wife and two kids, along with Johnny Dogs and a few others.....
Here is the clip incase you forgot https://youtu.be/n_
Johnny was the one who dug the hole, to bury the horse.
You see where I am getting at? Only Johnny could pass on this inside information about the family to outsiders, to people like Alfie Solomons who would have intense rivalry with Tommy.
Now this could mean two things from Alfie's end. Either he is trying to make up for past betrayals, ad trying to tell Tommy that there is a traitor in his family. Who passes information to outsiders.
Or he was trying to actually convince Tommy of his powers, without any intention of helping him out.
Tommy obviously kept his poker face, making Alfie think that this probably never even happened. Because he didn't want Alfie to think that there is actually indeed a traitor in the house.
That way Alfie will never know how legitimate the information really is. Thereby perhaps considering to sack his source of information as a worthless employee.
Another most obvious sign of Johnny being the traitor is despite Aberama and Arthur being attacked by the assasins, nobody ever attacked Johnny. Johnny changed his position right before Arthur was attacked.
Look carefully https://youtu.be/
The most intricate detail in all of this is that the assasins knew EXACTLY when to begin the ambush. Right before Tommy's counting comes to an end.
How else would they know this most irreplaceable piece of detail, if somebody within the Blinders didn't pass out every last detail of when exactly the shot is going to be fired?
I mean without this inside information, neither will they know where Barney Thomason is located, nor will they know when they need to incapacitate Barney before he fires the shot.
Also remember, Johnny always hated Aberama Gold intensely, so this might have been a golden opportunity for him to kill Aberama.
So I believe Johnny most certainly is the main culprit, who knew every detail, down the last second when the sniper was about to fire the shot.
Maybe him and Alfie together planned this assasination. That is a possibility as well, Alfie betraying Tommy as usual for past hatred and Johnny getting to kill Aberama.
I believe Tommy figures out within an hour, makes up his mind, and takes Johnny prisoner. That would be an epic scene for me indeed. I would jump out of the bed and scream, I TOLD YOU SO.
3. Michael and Gina Gray
The family meeting of season 5 episode 5 ended rather badly. When Michael proposed his new business expansion plans to Tommy.
After Michael, Gina and Polly left the meeting, and Tommy and the crew comes back, while Tommy is describing his plan, there were three instances where the camera is depicting the whole crew from behind a window glass.
I would really implore you all to re-watch that episode again (s5e5) to see what I am talking about. You will be electrified.
This is a detail that escaped almost everyone's eyes, but not mine. Why would the scene suddenly start being depicted in that way? When it wasn't happening like this until Michael and his wife and mother left?
It is possible that Michael never really left, but he was hidden close by.... Eavesdropping on Tommy's plans, and thereby formulating the plan of assasination of others....
The birthday party of Lizzie already showed signs that Mosley was acquainted with the newly wed couple.
Although it could be entirely possible that the person to eavesdrop is someone other than Michael or Gina. Given what the barman Mickey already did to Tommy. It is possible that the Ulsterman/ Section D has more moles in Tommy's pub than Tommy knows....
Maybe they are the culprits....
But one thing is for sure, someone did indeed eavesdrop when item number 3 was being explained in full detail.
It is definitely possible that all these people actually conspired against Tommy in tandem. Which is what I think actually happened.
So thank you guys, for reading through all of this. I hope you lot are also as excited as me for Peaky Blinders Season 6. What a beautiful journey it has been.
Please let me know in the comments about what all of you think about all these possibilities explored..... If you guys have any new ideas, or a criticism of my ideas, I would really love tonhear it all....
Let's meet in the comments right below.... BY ORDER...... OF THE PEAKY BLINDERS.
